Edisto Memorial Gardens, located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, is a must-visit destination for any South Carolinian looking for a breathtaking road trip experience. The gardens, which were established in the 1920s, started with just five acres of land dedicated to azaleas. However, over the years, the gardens have expanded to an impressive 175 acres, showcasing not only azaleas but also camellias, roses, and centuries-old cypress trees.

Interestingly, the gardens are located at the site of a historic confrontation between the Confederate and Union armies towards the end of the Civil War. The gardens are named after the Edisto River that runs alongside it, adding to its charm and allure.

In 1951, the gardens added its now-famous roses, which have become a major attraction for visitors. The gardens are a perfect blend of history, natural beauty, and horticultural excellence, making it a perfect destination for a family outing, a romantic getaway, or a solo adventure.
