Welcome to the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located on the Gatlinburg, Tennessee side.

This magnificent park spans across the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, boasting a vast landscape of lush forests and year-round wildflowers. Hiking routes throughout the park offer breathtaking views of streams, rivers, and waterfalls, including a segment of the famous Appalachian Trail. At the peak of Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the park, visitors can climb an observation tower for a panoramic view of the mist-covered mountains. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a must-see destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.

Growing up as a Navy kid, I bounced around the East Coast before settling in Aiken, South Carolina in 1966. The warm climate was a big draw for my family. Speaking of family, I am the oldest of five and have been happily married for 44 years. My two daughters are both educated, married, and they are always there to lend a hand. I am also a proud grandparent of three little ones who keep me busy and happy. After working at the Savannah River Site for 37.5 years, I am now retired and enjoying my hobbies. I love working on home projects, exploring the backroads of South Carolina, camping, and taking photos of the great outdoors.
