What a breathtaking evening on Lake Thurmond in South Carolina! I was lucky enough to capture this stunning image near the Clarks Hill Dam, where I used to ski as a kid. Last night was a chance to relive some of those cherished memories. Let me tell you, the sunsets on Lake Thurmond, formerly known as Clarks Hill Lake, are absolutely spectacular!
Did you know that Lake Thurmond and Dam border two states, South Carolina and Georgia, on Highway 221? It's truly a remarkable sight to see. I can't wait to come back and experience the beauty of this place all over again.
Growing up as a Navy kid, I bounced around the East Coast before settling in Aiken, South Carolina in 1966. The warm climate was a big draw for my family. Speaking of family, I am the oldest of five and have been happily married for 44 years. My two daughters are both educated, married, and they are always there to lend a hand. I am also a proud grandparent of three little ones who keep me busy and happy. After working at the Savannah River Site for 37.5 years, I am now retired and enjoying my hobbies. I love working on home projects, exploring the backroads of South Carolina, camping, and taking photos of the great outdoors.
