There is a moment in the morning when the sun is rising that is special for me, you are looking at it. While at the beach, weather permitting, I try to catch every sunrise, it energizes my day. There is a single seagull upper left of the image.

This is sunrise on Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Pirateland Family Campground.

Myrtle Beach, a city and vacation resort on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, is the hub of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of beaches. It’s also known for its celebrity-designed golf courses. Along its beachfront boardwalk are arcades, souvenir stands, and restaurants, as well as the old-fashioned Family Kingdom amusement park and the SkyWheel, one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels.


Pirateland Family Campground is a Seaside campground offering full hook-up RVs, tents & furnished rentals, plus a water park & pool.

Growing up as a Navy kid, I bounced around the East Coast before settling in Aiken, South Carolina in 1966. The warm climate was a big draw for my family. Speaking of family, I am the oldest of five and have been happily married for 44 years. My two daughters are both educated, married, and they are always there to lend a hand. I am also a proud grandparent of three little ones who keep me busy and happy. After working at the Savannah River Site for 37.5 years, I am now retired and enjoying my hobbies.
