As my fellow photographer and I strolled through the breathtaking Phinizy Swamp in Augusta, Georgia, the sweet melodies of these feathered friends filled the air. It was an absolutely remarkable day for bird photography, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to witness such a stunning creature in its natural habitat.I am delighted to announce that I have finally accomplished a lifelong aspiration of mine - capturing an image of the elusive Painted Bunting.
Growing up as a Navy kid, I bounced around the East Coast before settling in Aiken, South Carolina in 1966. The warm climate was a big draw for my family. Speaking of family, I am the oldest of five and have been happily married for 44 years. My two daughters are both educated, married, and they are always there to lend a hand. I am also a proud grandparent of three little ones who keep me busy and happy. After working at the Savannah River Site for 37.5 years, I am now retired and enjoying my hobbies. I love working on home projects, exploring the backroads of South Carolina, camping, and taking photos of the great outdoors.
