First, thank you to several photographers for the baby flamingo alert. Little baby flamingo looks only a couple of weeks old. When I first arrived this morning at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia South Carolina, I did not see anything. I finally saw the baby nestled under Mommy flamingo's wing. After a few moments, the baby emerged but never left Mommy's side. Welcome to our world.

About Steve Rich
Growing up as a Navy kid, I bounced around the East Coast before settling in Aiken, South Carolina in 1966. The warm climate was a big draw for my family. Speaking of family, I am the oldest of five and have been happily married for 44 years. My two daughters are both educated, married, and they are always there to lend a hand. I am also a proud grandparent of three little ones who keep me busy and happy. After working at the Savannah River Site for 37.5 years, I am now retired and enjoying my hobbies.
