Description
One of the most thrilling additions to the Riverbanks Zoo is a precious flamingo, just 11 days old! This adorable little creature has been nestled safely under the protective wing of its loving mommy. I was fortunate enough to capture a glimpse of this heartwarming sight during my visit. Standing there for an entire hour, I eagerly waited for the baby flamingo to peek its head out every few minutes. It was a truly magical experience!
While chatting with one of the knowledgeable zoo employees, I learned about the fascinating process of flamingo egg incubation. As soon as the eggs are laid, they are promptly removed and carefully placed in an incubator until they hatch. Incredibly, hardened clay eggs are then substituted in their place. After a few days, once the chicks have emerged, they are joyfully reunited with their mommies.
In the case of this little fellow, he had not one, but two females and a male keeping a watchful eye over him. The level of care and attention lavished upon these precious creatures is simply awe-inspiring. The excitement I felt in capturing this incredible moment cannot be put into words. It was a truly unforgettable experience that left me in complete awe of the wonders of nature.
The addition of this adorable baby flamingo to the Riverbanks Zoo has undoubtedly brought immense joy and wonder to all who have had the privilege of witnessing it. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to capture this extraordinary moment and share in the excitement.
