Description
The Surfside Pier in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, was a beloved landmark for many years. This stunning image was captured on the morning of September 28, 2016, just before Hurricane Matthew hit the state in October of that year. Sadly, the pier has been closed to fishing ever since.
Despite the pier's closure, my wife and I continued to enjoy breakfast and dinner at the Surf Diner, located at the pier entrance, for many years. However, the Surf Diner has now closed its doors, leaving behind memories of delicious meals and good times.
But there is hope on the horizon. Construction of a new pier is currently underway, and while it is bittersweet to see the old wooden pier disappear, we can look forward to a new concrete pier taking its place.
As I bid farewell to my old friend, I am reminded of the many years I spent admiring its beauty through my viewfinder. The Surfside Pier will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will never forget the memories it has given me.

I love shots like this, but this is especially lovely with the low sun casting long shadows and the soft warm glow . . . .f/l

I've tried to take similar pics like this but not to this standard. Loving the sunset, composition and the shadows of the pier legs. Great capture!

Hi Sandra, the process I used is called HDR. You can google it, there is lots of information on this.
