Description
Sunset on Bay Lake, Walt Disney World Florida. Lightning can strike twice in the same spot. I took this image back in 2012 on a visit to Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. My wife and I like to walk from our campsite to Bay Lake and sit for the evening. There is lots of activity as folks are returning from Disney, Hotels, and other places via boat transportation, some people would look so tired, hungry, sunburned, and out of money. In 2012 I suffered an external hard drive failure, I was able to get most of my images back, I lost several, this was one of them. On a return trip to the Fort Wilderness Campground several years later, we were fortunate to have a REPEAT of another awesome sunset. Those who have graced the Bay Lake area doorstep will know where I am standing for this shot. The campground is behind me, and boat access to the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, and the Contemporary Hotel is in front of me.
Bay Lake, Walt Disney World Florida. Bay Lake is a natural lake about 1 mile across and with a depth of 35 feet, located in Orange County, Florida, at the north end of the Walt Disney World property, in the Disney-controlled city of Bay Lake, Florida, and immediately to the east of the Magic Kingdom. It is the main route visitors to the Magic Kingdom take via Ferry Boat from the Transportation and Ticket Center. Other options to reach the park are via Monorail which travels at the edge of the lake, with stops throughout the surrounding resorts, or via Disney buses.
It is roughly triangular in shape and is under the jurisdiction of the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The lake connects with the Disney-made Seven Seas Lagoon via a water bridge on the west side.
